Trying to get RIS working on a set of HP DC7700 form factors (Intel 82566DM nics) Coming up with the dreaded "Your network adapters are not supported" error on the txt install.

Gone through every goddamn thing by the book bar sacrificing a chicken over the server, but still cannot get the bastard to work. I have the chipset confirmed via a grab from the RIS base, have installed the drivers, added to the POEM and i386, but still no joy.

At this point, I suspect it may be that old 4k limitation on RIS INFs rearing its head. Unfortunately, intel multipack their drivers in a big fat one-size-fits-all that means I end up spending ages ripping out extra language packs and chipsets...and still cannot get the damned infs down to less than ~40k.

Anyone else come across these bastard machines and managed to get one to RIS? (Can't go alternates, legacy systems, old as hell, and if I ever meet my predecessor I am going to shove my foot so far up his arse he can taste my socks)

... wow, and to think I'm getting into gunfights with our support team because they don't want to spend an hour or so fiddling with getting SCCM (the current iteration of SMS) to build a java runtime software distribution package.

*hands you a beer*

Appreciated, but not much help with the issue.

arghh. Seriously, at this point I'd take anything anyone's willing to throw at me I may have overlooked.

Alas, I won't be of any help- I managed to get hired on at work shortly after they retired their RIS setup for using Ghost for a couple years to build the system images.

I suspect it's why the guy I replaced was going bald even though he's not much older then me. :(

RIS is as old as mammoth's crap, WDS is the current way to go. And if that fails - imaging over the network always worked for me, especially since there's so much choice - ghostcast, acronis, g4u, clonezilla...

WDS apparently has the same issues as RIS when it comes to this driver set, and the added bonus of requiring a boot.wim file that, *coincidentally*, you have to obtain from ANOTHER piece of M$ media.

I view it with deep, deep suspicion.

Mammoth Crap may be old, but it still works
