Anyone worked on reverse vmware migration before? long story short, we're looking to shift three servers off a vmware enclosure to standalone physical machines. Been reading up on some whitepapers, but they seem to describ e what's essentially building a SISprep image and that worries me, as traditionally sisprep reseals the machine you're imaging...and in this case one of them is the farkin' DC.

Anyone worked with this before? any suggestions? best practises? Bueller?

EDIT: We ended up using WBS to take a snapshot, then replicated that back out to the existing hardware. Surprisngly painless, stable servers resulted.

We have had to do this a couple of times. We use ShadowProtect to take and actual back up of the VM and then do a bare metal restore to the new physical box. Works like a charm
